A commitment of at least one day per week is required to hold a spot for your pup (except for boarding dogs)
Occasionally drop in spots will open up, so please ask us if you are interested in having your dog join an enrichment group that day!
Please note that treats will be given in the enrichment program. Please make sure your online account is updated for any allergies.
Benefits of Enrichment Daycare
Dog daycare enrichment programs are designed to provide more than just supervision. They give dogs opportunities for mental stimulation, physical activity, social interaction, and skill-building in a structured environment.
Not every dog enjoys traditional group daycare all day. Some dogs benefit more from enrichment-focused programs with smaller groups, individual activities, or one-on-one attention. Shipyard Dog Co. carefully matches the dog's age, temperament, energy level, health status, and social preferences in groups of ten or less dogs, with needed naps in between activities.
Shipyard Dog Co. will provide a combination of exercise, learning, social opportunities, and mental challenges that can significantly enhance your pup's daily well-being.

Mental Stimulation
Enrichment activities engage a dog's brain through problem-solving, scent work, puzzles, training games, and novel experiences. Mental exercise can be just as tiring as physical exercise and may help reduce boredom-related behaviors at home, such as excessive barking, chewing, or digging.

Physical Exercise
Many enrichment daycare programs incorporate structured play, agility obstacles, fitness activities, and supervised movement. Regular exercise supports:
-
Healthy weight management
-
Muscle tone and joint mobility
-
Cardiovascular health
-
Better sleep and relaxation

Socialization Skills
When properly supervised, dogs can learn appropriate social behaviors with other dogs and people. Benefits may include:
-
Improved confidence
-
Better communication through body language
-
Reduced fear of unfamiliar dogs or environments
-
Practice with impulse control

Reduced Stress and Anxiety
Dogs that spend long periods alone can become lonely or under-stimulated. Enrichment daycare can provide:
-
Predictable routines
-
Positive interactions
-
Opportunities to engage in natural behaviors
-
A more satisfying daily experience
For some dogs, this can help reduce separation-related stress and restlessness.

Encourages Natural Behaviors
Many enrichment activities tap into instincts that dogs naturally enjoy:
-
Sniffing and scent-tracking
-
Foraging for food
-
Exploring new objects and textures
-
Problem-solving
-
Chasing and retrieving
Allowing dogs to express these behaviors can improve overall welfare.

Builds Confidence
Dogs that are shy, cautious, or easily startled often benefit from controlled exposure to new experiences. Successfully navigating enrichment activities can help them become more resilient and comfortable in different situations.

Reinforces Training
Many daycare enrichment programs include basic obedience games, impulse-control exercises, and reward-based learning. This can strengthen behaviors such as:
-
Recall
-
Focus on people
-
Settling calmly
-
Waiting patiently
-
Responding to cues around distractions

Improved Quality of Life
A dog that receives appropriate mental, physical, and social enrichment is often more satisfied and balanced overall. Owners frequently report:
-
Calmer behavior at home
-
Less destructive behavior
-
Better adaptability
-
Increased happiness and engagement
